The end of trend-based items

From trend-driven to timeless: how contemporary fashion has evolved

Although fashion brands stubbornly introduce transient concepts to maximise their turnover, the end of trend-based items seems quite clear. Lately, the idea of seasonal trends has lost meaning. That is in favour of a clean and timeless style that prefers classics with a modern twist, clothes you’ll never get tired of.

Trend-based fashion, status quo and the pandemic

Trendy-driven items are a trail of the status quo. Fashion with a close expiry date, without distinction between luxury and fast fashion.
But since the pandemic, our lifestyles have changed, and so have the clothes we want to wear. And the climate crisis, too, has an impact on shifting consumer behaviour and our style.

Cleaning off wardrobes of the pieces we won’t wear anymore is the first step. Which, by the way, doesn’t absolutely mean discarding them! In fact, as a consequence of this evolved behaviour, we don’t throw away clothing. We do not throw away anything. We donate or re-sell, depending on the item.

The motive for this cleaning is that we realised we don’t need more garments. Less but better is what we need. And also, we need clothes that make us feel good.

The end of trend-drive fashion & new style:
timeless, seasonless, comfortable

The new style is about assembling a capsule wardrobe of beautifully designed garments. Special pieces that give a sense of elegance but make you feel comfortable at the same time. Even important clothes that we love to mix nonchalantly.

Therefore, the focus is on the cut and fabrics that provide an elevated touch. Relaxed tailoring assembled in modern separates is the heart of this evolved style. Blazers, trousers and knits do not constrain the body but allow movement.
Also, we want to feel the comfort on our skin. So, wearing our favourite clothes becomes a pleasant experience.

On the same line, we see the end of trend-based items. Indeed, we filter fashion proposals in search of good design – seasonless and timeless clothing. An evolved and subtle elegance. A clean style for a contemporary understatement that impresses for its beauty but refuses any showiness.

The Furry Cardigan

Today we recommend – The Furry Cardigan by Plantation1982.
An extraordinary piece of design, perfectly curated in every single detail.

This cardi is a timeless and seasonless wardrobe staple. Very soft and comfortable to the touch, it is surprisingly lightweight.

Discover The Furry Cardigan

About the material
Nylon is the core yarn, and cotton brushed bouclé (a knitted fabric with a yarn loop on the surface) is wrapped around, covering the nylon. The soft and fluffy texture feels great on your skin, and we recommend it for those who have problems with the tingling sensation of wool. Also, this cotton knit cardigan can be easily cared for, and you can wear it every day. It is a seasonless piece, and even though it contains cotton, you can use it during the winter season. That is because the fuzzy finishing makes it warm.

About the design
The shawl-collar 3-button cardigan gently wraps around the back of the neck.
It is a whole garment and so, a non-sewn knit. It means that there are no shoulders or side seams. Therefore, thanks to this knitting technique, the garment has no tension, and it is very comfortable to wear. Also, a small percentage (5%) of polyurethane added to the yarn prevents it from losing its shape and provides a fit.

About the colour
The mood recalls the warmth of a cocoon. Light brown with an intense yellow tinge, it is a colour that makes you feel all the warmth of the knit.

Easy-care material. Machine washable.
This item can be hand-washed at home. We suggest laying it flat to dry.

The collar has a beautiful V-line, so you can enjoy coordination by layering high-necked inners and looking into colours and patterns. Extremely versatile, The Furry Cardigan is suitable for wearing in different combinations.

Good design, quality, timeless, seasonless, easy-care.
Style made to last. Buy less, buy better!

The Asymmetric Sweater

Among the new arrivals, The Asymmetric Sweater by Plantation1982 is a piece that perfectly completes your Fall/Winter capsule wardrobe.

The pullover has a simple design with its back falling to the side, but it has a unique, edgy silhouette.

As Jan Tschichold said: “Asymmetry is the rhythmic expression of functional design.”
Indeed, it’s interesting to explore asymmetry as a design pattern, its intake to a functional style, and the movement that allows the body. We find fascinating the idea of not being too obvious or somehow predictable while giving the chance to create modern and stylish garments.

Some notes about the material:
It is a worsted yarn sweater. The high gauge knitted yarn avoids pilling easily, and although it is 100% extra-fine wool, it has a soft texture that does not give the peculiar tingling of wool. You have to feel it on your skin.

The design point:
The asymmetrical hem created from the beautiful drape is the design element that stands out and makes it unique.
It features a ribbed neckline, cuffs, and hemline. The neckline accompanies the neck gently.
Accented by a draped hem, this knit is comfortable to wear because it is compact around the shoulders but wide. Moreover, it does not pick up the body line.

The colour: a bright melange grey, not a solid colour, so it has a soft and gentle impression. Also, extremely versatile.

Some styling options:
You can put together structured coordination when combined with basic bottoms such as stretch pants and denim, the beauty of the silhouette stands out while being cool.
Or, match the sweater with a skirt, and you’ll get an A-line silhouette, giving it an airy and natural look.

It is a knit that gives a plain yet gorgeous impression just by wearing it.
Function and style are beautifully blended.

We don’t wear labels. We wear style!

The Striped Tunic Sweater

Going ahead with defining a capsule wardrobe, today we introduce: The Striped Tunic Sweater by Plantation1982.

Here, we are going to tell you more about the material and design. Which, at first, may look simple, but each detail is deeply curated. Perhaps noticing details is something people are not used to anymore, though we know that some individuals have a special eye. But for those who don’t, we hope you’ll rediscover the pleasure of being more attentive, and maybe, more curious.

Made in Japan, this sweater is 100% cotton – with a soft hand. It’s easy to match, and its cosy silhouette adds an elegant touch even to casual outfits.

The ripple structure is swollen, like a tube – replacing the usual rib working.
The boat neck is shallow in the vertical direction and wide in the horizontal. This design makes the neckline look beautiful.

In addition, the vertical texture of the fabric makes it difficult to pick up the lines of your body and underwear. As a result, this garment is very comfortable to wear.

The tunic sweater is perfect for the turn of the season. But no worries, when the weather gets colder, it is easy to layer over it with a cardigan. Or a tank top or t-shirt underneath. Since the material surface is uneven, it will look great with many outfits.

The length is 168 cm, so it comfortably covers the hip line.

Now the colour: off-white. The base is off-white as a gentle cream. The stripes are mocha brown, giving an overall light and soft impression.

This product is washed to give it a unique texture.
And, most imp you can wash it by hand at home.

Educating ourselves to be aware of what we buy. Taking more time to evaluate, appreciating details – is a worthy exercise.
The world is full of garbage, we don’t need more of it. Choose wisely!

Less stuff, more meaning

Passing through the storm of the pandemic, we had the feeling that many brands had lost their grip, their meaning while a few others have been able to keep consistent work, somehow surviving the impact. Not because their message is new, but because, perhaps 30 years ago, they dared to propose a different viewpoint. By the way, that is the power of innovation, not everyone gets the message immediately. It takes a while, even decades.

So many garments now seem to be part of an old world and aren’t appropriate anymore. Some others carried on their codes, values, as they are still modern, versatile and never out-of-place.
In order to adapt to a new environment and to find a meaningful way to pursue our passion for design and fashion, we have to pay attention to select the right pieces.

The new aesthetic develops around deeper concepts: timeless and comfortable silhouettes, soft textures, materials you love to feel on your skin. Fewer pieces, higher quality is what identifies a modern wardrobe.

Less stuff, more meaning is the evolved ethos #formodernhumans
