Unique creativity, good design, quality fabrics: the essence of timeless fashion

Today we introduce The Tied Shoulder Dress by Marc Le Bihan.

Let us start with this assumption: most of the products labelled as sustainable are not so. If you want sustainable garments, you should buy only quality items from small independent designers. Of course, these pieces are more expensive than disposable stuff. But a few quality clothes for a capsule wardrobe made to last are the only possible sustainable choice. The other option is buying vintage or nothing at all.

Indeed, Marc Le Bihan doesn’t talk about sustainability – zero focus on marketing or advertising. But it is implied in his work, which is what counts: unique creativity, good design and beautiful fabrics. He delivers timeless, special garments you will wear for a lifetime. And production is artisanal and limited.

Exceptiona, timeless design from Japan

Today we introduce The Pencil Dress by Zucca.

It is a timeless garment you can wear for a large part of the year. The image is minimal and stylish. Although it looks simple at first glance, it is a piece rich in detail.

Discover The Pencil Dress

About the design
An I-line silhouette jersey dress with a creased effect. The exposed zipper along the centre back adds an edgy accent. Sleeveless, crew neckline, two side slip pockets and rear slit. Also, it comes with a detachable cord belt.
You can pass the cord belt from the centre back through the side pocket holes, cross once at the front and once at the back, and tie a front bow for a well-balanced tie.

About the material
Polyester jersey with washer pleats. The fabric has good elasticity and average thickness. This item is pleated by heat and pressure. Indeed, when buying a pleated garment, polyester is the best choice because the pleating never drops out.

About the colour
Available in green, a dark tone that is easy to match with everything.

Laundry
Wash by hand – easy care.
This product can be hand washed at home in cold water. Do not iron! This item is pleated by heat and pressure. By repeating wearing and washing, the pleating could gradually disappear. So when wearing or storing, do not apply pressure for too long.

Style tips
You will have many opportunities to wear The Pencil Dress. However, a layering style is what you need in order to use it throughout the seasons. Pair it with denim or a leather jacket in mild temperatures. A wool cardigan or a long-sleeved t-shirt underneath when cold. But also a mannish blazer for your work wear.

The Special Ones

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Exploring the counterculture of fashion research

Hunting for the special ones, unique brands for people who want more from fashion fuels the passion for research, enhancing it further. The dates and exhibition places are more or less the same, but the sense of discovery is always more engaging.

In the spirit of ‘less is more,’ exclusivity and unique garments, thoughtful design and made-to-last quality represent the new luxury for modern humans. And precisely this is what we select for you.

Mainstream fashion and its limelight are just one part of the industry. But out of the dominant narrative, there’s a more hidden universe that you have to dig a little to find. It is a microcosm made of true passion, hard work and unconventional designs. A fascinating universe that delivers profoundly valuable garments having the feel of niche or cult fashion. Not for everyone.

By the way, more hidden doesn’t refer to insiders, but to a broader audience—the end customers. They rely on social media as the only source of information, their only bible. Therefore, their knowledge is shallow. Indeed, they are brand oriented or taken from fast fashion but lack a deeper understanding of design and quality.

Being radically different, these cult brands do not follow trends. In fact, they represent a counterculture escaping from marketing labels. And precisely because they don’t want to be pigeon-holed, classified, and placed into boxes with a trendy label stamped outside.

Most importantly, they let their products speak – with excellent quality fabrics, tailoring, artisanal workings, limited productions, and experimentation. It’s an act of meaning: they deliver beauty and uniqueness. Timeless quality and value.

Also, one more factor: almost no advertising. In fact, the special ones run away from algorithms too–which contributes to making them more fascinating.

The Brushed Stripe T-shirt by ZUCCa

Reading Time: 2 minutes

New arrivals, timeless style from Japan

Today we introduce The Brushed Stripe T-shirt by Zucca.

A piece that stands out but it is easy to wear and comfortable. Also, the aesthetic is seasonless, the quality of the material excellent, and the design is cool.

Discover The Brushed Stripe T-Shirt

About the design
Cotton short-sleeved T-shirt with a paint brush drawing design along the front and solid colour back. Some maxi stripes have imperfect lines that resemble a brush stroke. And this paint effect creates a punkish mood. Also, the silhouette is boxy with a round neckline.

About the material
The material is 100% cotton. Specifically, it is sturdy cotton which is seasonless. Also, it has good elasticity and a non-glossy hand.

The Brushed Striped T-shirt

About the colour
Grey base with a white maxi stripe design, a two-tone combination with a matte effect. The front is bicolour, and the back is monochrome. The mood is punkish but refined. And we opted for this colour combination because we like the idea of this particularly sophisticated contrast. It stands out without being aggressive.

Laundry
Wash by hand – easy care.
This product can be hand washed at home in cold water, but do not iron directly on the print. Cool iron it on the reverse side with a cloth in between.

Styling tips
The Brushed Stripe T-shirt is a beautiful garment, eye-catching but easy to wear. And it is perfect with the white denim trousers we have just posted. But you can also pair it with a black bottom, and it will stand out. Even though short-sleeved when the weather gets cold, you can wear a basic long-sleeved t-shirt underneath. And also a jacket over works well. Indeed, layering style is what you need to wear your garments throughout the year.

Niche Fashion: What Does It Mean?

Reading Time: 2 minutes

And can it stand on its own?

Niche fashion is a matter of having a personal identity, refusing mass products and somehow having a certain repulsion for what is extremely popular.

The question is: do you want to look like everyone else? Dress like everyone else? And think like everyone else? If yes, maybe reading this post is a waste of your time. Indeed many people like to be the copy of others. But if your response is no, it’s worth a few minutes of reading. Exploring the concept of niche fashion will help you understand that small universe outside mass trends.

It’s an imagery that finds very little space in our homologated culture. Social media flattened everything privileging a single line of thought.

Created by visionary designers, it finds support from a limited number of selected international retailers who still have a passion for research. And by people like you, who love searching for authentic gems.

However, niche has a meaning in marketing but has a slightly different connotation in fashion. In marketing, it refers to a group you identify as your target audience.

Niche fashion meaning

In the fashion field, professionals call niche brands or collections those designs out of the mainstream. Cult pieces of clothing or accessories not for all because of their design, quality and craftsmanship. Which image is so unique that only people with a specific taste will understand them.

In essence, niche fashion is about having a different sensibility towards design and quality. It is for connoisseurs, insiders or everyone having an eye to recognise it, people who escape from mass thinking and find pleasure in the unconventional.

Now, can niche brands stand on their own? The news that Calzedonia group just acquired Antonio Marras, taking a majority stake in the brand, opens the discussion.

Niche fashion will never be trending, never too popular. It wouldn’t be niche. And it has nothing to do with algorithms.
Preserving a culture of diversity is vital for niche brands to survive.
