Niche fashion: Fall-Winter 24-25 style mood inspiration

As we await the arrival of our Fall-Winter 24-25 selection of international independent fashion designers, it’s time to immerse ourselves in the new season’s colour palette and fabrics.

This Fall-Winter 24-25 season, our curated selection celebrates both the richness of traditional craftsmanship and the innovative spirit of modern design. These are pieces meant to be cherished, each one carefully chosen for its exceptional quality and timeless appeal. So, in two words: good design.

Fall-Winter 24-25: colour palette and fabrics

From Meagratia we selected a sophisticated blend of textures and tones. From the deep, inky black of wool to the striking contrast of grey cotton with red embroidery, the pieces exude a quiet strength. Also, the sturdy ivory cotton and pristine white cotton bring balance, offering versatility and a canvas for creative layering.

Miaoran captivated us with its bold use of laser-cut black wool against a delicate light pink base. This unexpected pairing creates a dynamic interplay between light and dark, soft and sharp – a perfect reflection of the season’s transitional nature.

From Ujoh – new in from Japan, we selected a moody and luxurious spectrum with hues like violet and bordeaux cotton. But also, aubergine light wool. These deep, rich tones evoke the quiet elegance of fall, while the ebony cotton provides a grounding element, ensuring each piece is as enduring as it is stylish.

New season's colour palette and fabrics

Marc le Bihan elevates the season with colours like “windsor” and “lie de vin” wool viscose, blending heritage with innovation. These materials offer warmth and texture, along with a sense of understated elegance.

Aurōra brings a singular focus with its violet wool, a colour that symbolises both creativity and introspection. This piece stands out as a statement of individuality within the broader collection.

GoodNeighbors Shirts captures the essence of the night sky with a stardust print on dark blue. Also, it offers practicality with grey heavy cotton. These fabrics are designed for durability without sacrificing the subtle artistry that makes each piece unique.

Conclusion

Each piece is carefully selected to effortlessly mix and match with one another, as well as with the garments you already own. We can’t wait to receive the new collections and create unique outfits just for you.

The new season’s colour palette and fabrics we have chosen are more than just a trend. They are a curated expression of style that values uniqueness, quality and longevity. As you explore these new arrivals, remember that each piece is not just a garment, but a meaningful addition to a more thoughtful wardrobe.

What Did You Wear During Your Summer Holidays?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Rethinking fashion in a boiling world – evolved style in the context of climate change

A question many of us hear: What did you wear during your summer holidays? On the surface, it might seem trivial – a simple conversation starter. But in reality, the question touches on something deeper, reflecting our values and the state of our planet.

Indeed, fashion may seem naive, but it is not. We, humans, are social animals, so we dress for work, special occasions, time off or holidays. In fact, the fashion industry is huge and the effects are well known.

Despite growing awareness, the trend of consuming mass-produced, disposable fashion persists. This need to constantly showcase new looks comes at a steep price – one paid by our planet, which is literally heating up as a result of our choices.

This doesn’t work anymore.

Overconsumption, disposable fashion, and the ‘buy and toss’ mentality belong to a past that is wreaking havoc on our present. It’s time to shift our mindset, rethink these habits, and embrace a more sustainable approach to fashion.

Meaningful pieces: evolved style #formodernhumans

So, what did we wear during our summer holidays? The answer is simple: the same meaningful garments that have been the staples in our urban wardrobes. This is the essence of meaningful pieces – they’re the only garments worth owning. When paired just right, they effortlessly take you from the city streets to the sandy beaches, offering a unique and timeless style.

Meaningful garments are the result of thoughtful design: quality pieces with a timeless aesthetic – made to last. Our Spring/Summer 24 selection includes versatile shirts, dresses, t-shirts, and shorts, crafted from silk to cotton and lace, all adaptable for multiple occasions. In fact, thoughtful fashion in limited pieces is our focus.

The bottom line? We don’t need more. With waste piling up everywhere, it’s time to reject ‘garbage fashion.’ What we need is less – much less – but better. Fewer pieces, higher quality.

As climate change intensifies and our planet heats up, the urgency to act grows stronger. Now, more than ever, meaningful pieces are the only ones worth having. The true style alternative #formodernhumans

And you? What did you wear during your summer holidays?

A Pause in a Boiling World

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Confronting climate change during the hottest summer ever

After a brief pause from writing, we’re confronted with a stark reality: the world isn’t just metaphorically but literally boiling. This realisation resonates deeply with us, not only with our work in the fashion industry but also with our entire lives.

Over the past few weeks, we journeyed through Italy, from Milano to the tranquil landscapes of Basilicata. Along the way, we immersed ourselves in beautiful places, savouring the food, connecting with people, and even grappling with Wi-Fi issues that forced us to momentarily step back from blogging. But what left the most profound impression was the relentless heat. The scorching temperatures, the unnaturally boiling seawater, everywhere. This was an unprecedented experience that made the reality of climate change feel more tangible than ever.

The summer of 2024 is now officially the hottest on record.

A Pause in a Boiling World
Basilicata – Marina di Pisticci

This extreme weather is having a profound impact not only on production chains and labourers but also on consumer habits and retailers. Yet, the fashion industry remains largely indifferent to this urgent crisis. Instead of responding to these challenges, the slowdown in consumer spending and the resulting decline in brand revenues are driving the industry in the opposite direction.

According to Business Of Fashion “Sustainability teams at big brands have been hit with layoffs; some companies have watered down their climate targets; and others are deprioritising sustainability efforts to focus on growth amid market volatility.”

Faced with financial pressures, the fashion system is prioritising growth and profitability, relegating sustainability to the background. Even the industry’s outward commitment to sustainability is starting to crumble.
Are we about to witness the facade completely collapse?

And so, in this moment of pause in a boiling world, the harsh reality of climate change compelled us to question everything.

How can we ignore the effects of this climate crisis on our lives and our work? Can the fashion industry really continue with business as usual? Should we reopen our boutiques as if nothing has changed? Is it possible to approach the Spring/Summer 2025 buying season without acknowledging the profound shifts happening around us?

Moreover, should we rush into the new Fall/Winter 2024-25 season? Still clinging to the outdated practice of dividing collections by season?

These are questions we can no longer avoid. The reality of our boiling world demands a thoughtful and immediate response.

On Creative Directors

The impact of big egos on fashion: what to expect?

As the fashion industry evolves, reflecting on creative directors and their work seems crucial to understanding its direction. Indeed, the shift from the figure of designers to creative directors brings about some considerations. What should we expect in fashion? Creativity and skills or marketing and big egos?

The work of creative directors

From what we’ve seen so far, creative directors take over a Maison and shape it with their own aesthetic. How do they do it? They can access extensive archives and substantial funds. Corporations produce and flood the market with their products, promoting them across every single media. However, after too much exposure, people get tired. When love ends, sales plummet, and, as a consequence, the creative gets kicked out. Nobody wants to purchase products of the unfortunate brand anymore. Not even off-priced.
While that brand struggles to regain identity and credibility, the creative jumps to the next one, replicating the very same view under a different logo. In this game, brands lose their uniqueness and look all the same. Every reference is NOT a coincidence: Alessandro Michele represents the most striking case. His recent looks for Valentino seemed more like an advertisement for the new Gucci campaign. A hybrid Gvucci or Vucci, as you prefer. However, he is not alone. The havoc John Galliano made on Margiela is another example.

But why don’t these creative directors launch their namesake brands? They avoid it because out of that box, they lose their relevance. Their skills rely on immense archives and huge investments. They excel at styling and marketing, but the creativity of a fashion designer is a different matter. Their ego overpowers.

Conclusion

With perseverance and hard work, designers of the past created a distinctive style, developing a culture around it. The unique idea of fashion they believed in was idiosyncratic, and they worked with determination, committed to spreading that idea.

In fact, the role of the creative director is a marketing necessity for corporations to lure consumers. Unfortunately, the side effect is a flattened fashion industry, where the only focus is profit.

As we witness the rise of creative directors, we need to acknowledge that these figures fail to introduce innovative elements or enrich the discourse within the fashion industry. Instead, they perpetuate a dangerous cycle of overproduction, which they would never attempt to change because they are part of the system. Employees and accomplices.

This, we must take into account.
